 Anxiety!

Are you yelling at family over things that wouldn’t have bothered you before and don’t even know why? Are you eating without even chewing, and swallowing in gulps, feeling it’s an inconvenience in your rushed schedule? Are you feeling exhausted when you get up in the morning? Here are some suggestions of how to improve the quality of your life and reset your priorities;

1.        Practice deep breathing, inhaling through your nose, hold it for a count of 4, then exhaling through your mouth. After doing this several times picture a light fresh color coming in when you inhale and picture a dark thick color going out when you exhale.

2.       Put on some relaxing music and sit and listen to it quietly. Light a candle, do something to change from being part of the problem to being part of the solution.

Thoughts for the Day,

Acceptance, is the answer to all my problems today. When I am disturbed, it is because I find some person, place, thing, or situation- some fact of my life unacceptable to me and I can find no serenity until I accept that person, place, thing or situation as being exactly the way it is supposed to be at this moment . Nothing, absolutely nothing, happens in God’s world by mistake; unless I accept life completely on life’s terms, I cannot be happy. I need to concentrate not so much on what needs to be changed in the world as on what needs to be changed in me and my attitudes.

Tips for Success

By Arnie Kahn, PHC Counselor, B.A., C.S.A.C.

What does the word FUN mean to you? Is it something you remember from childhood or something that you don’t have time for and other people do?

Sit down and write a list for yourself of what were things you did as a child that were fun. Also include in the list what were some hobbies you used to enjoy, whether it was collecting something, or making something. Then add to the list what are some things that you have always wanted to do for fun and never pursued for one reason or another. Now, pick one of those things and do it! Go the toy store and buy a frisbee to play with your kids, enroll in a night school class and take pottery making or kite building, go get that sleeping bag and plan a camping trip. The reality is, if you don’t make time to do something for yourself now you probably won’t later. Put aside the excuses and make it a habit by doing it continuously for several weeks, no matter what. LIVE LIFE!!!!
